Getting to EJC 2014 Overview

Getting to IrelandAddress: Green Glens Arena, Millstreet, Cork, Ireland.  Use the Station Road entrance. Note that Ireland does not have a nationwide postcode system, so the co-ordinates of the site entrance are 52.062907,-9.062499.

Where is Millstreet?

Millstreet is a small town in the southwest of Ireland [Google Maps]. If you are not living on the island of Ireland (Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland), then you will either have to fly or get a ferry (boat) to Ireland to get to the EJC 2014!  Millstreet has a train station - this is 1.9 km (1.2 miles) from the registration desk.

Getting to Ireland: By Sea

Getting to Ireland by SeaThere are lots of ferry services between Ireland and the UK.

From England: Ferries from Liverpool go to Dublin port.

Getting to Ireland: By Plane

There are 7 airports which provides flights into Ireland. The larger airports such as Cork, Shannon, Dublin & Belfast tend to have more services running from more destinations. Remember, there may be more services running in the summer months than at other times of the year. Smaller airports tend to run short-haul flights from a smaller number of destinations such as London, Paris and Amsterdam. Cork and Kerry airports are both very convenient for Millstreet.

Getting to Millstreet: From Cork City Centre

Getting to Millstreet from Cork CityIf travelling by bus, you are likely to need to change in Macroom, while if travelling by train, you will probably have to change in Mallow.  Pre-booking a seat on the bus is not required, but is recommended on the train if possible (via  If travelling by train, make your way to Cork city's Kent train station. Buses towards Millstreet leave from the Bus Station on St. Patrick’s Quay.

Getting to Millstreet: From Cork Airport

Getting to Millstreet from Cork AirportCork airport lies to the south west of the city of Cork and is approximately 60 km (37 miles) from Millstreet.  To get from Cork airport to the site by public transport, you will need to get a bus (number 226) from Cork airport to Cork city centre, then either a bus or a train to Millstreet.  If you get the bus all the way to the site (Bus Éireann: use the travel planner – this gives more choice than the online ticket purchase option) then you make your connection within Cork Bus Station (otherwise stay on the 226 bus to Cork Kent Train Station).

Getting to Millstreet: From Dublin city centre

Trains in IrelandThe most convenient route, if traveling by public transport, is to travel by train from Dublin’s Heuston station.  This is accessible by tram (the Red Line Luas) or by local city bus.  You can pre-book your train tickets from Irish Rail.

There are very few direct trains from Dublin to Millstreet, most will be the Dublin – Cork train service with a change in Mallow where you will catch the train towards Tralee (this also serves Killarney).  We strongly advise that you book your train trip before arrival in Ireland to ensure that you have a seat!

Getting to Millstreet: From Shannon Airport

Getting to Millstreet from Shannon AirportShannon airport lies to the north west of the city of Limerick and is approximately 120 km (75 miles) from Millstreet.  However, there is no easy transport connections to Millstreet, and you should expect that the journey will take 5 hours by bus! Plan your journey using the Bus Éireann journey planner.

Also consider getting the bus to Mallow and then catching the train from there.  There is a direct bus from Shannon airport towards Cork (bus number 51) that stops in Mallow.  Once there, do some grocery shopping and then make the onward connection by train to Millstreet.  You may opt to get to Limerick city and then make your way by train from there, but this will increase the number of connections that you will need to make!

Getting to Millstreet: From Kerry Airport

Getting to Millstreet from Kerry AirportKerry airport is at the edge of the village of Farranfore in county Kerry and is approximate 50km (30 miles) from the site.  You can walk to the train station (1.3km) and get a direct train to Millstreet from the village train station.  These trains are infrequent and it is a small station so check your connections in both directions! Details about the facilities at this station are available here.
